Depart on an overnight flight to Bangkok.
Day 2 Bangkok
Bangkok is one of the most vibrant cities in Southeast Asia, distinctly modern while keeping its Eastern flavor. It has been called the "Venice of the East" for its system of canals, or klongs, traversed by distinctive long-tailed boats. The city is divided into two parts by the Chao Phraya River, with Bangkok proper on the east side and Thonburi on the west. On arrival, you are met and transferred to your hotel is ideally located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River.
Day 3 Bangkok
Begin your exploration of this modern Southeast Asian city by visiting the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and the adjoining Grand Palace, two of the most amazing sites in the city. The compound includes over 100 colorful buildings, golden spires, mosaics and the Wat Phra Kaew, Thailand’s most important shrine and where the Emerald Buddha is kept. Little is known about this statue, except that it is actually made of green jade or jasper. This evening, join fellow travelers at a festive welcome cocktail party and dinner.
Day 4 Bangkok/Yangon, Myanmar/Heho
Depart Bangkok for Myanmar, a profoundly Buddhist country that has kept many of its ancient traditions. Your journey starts in Heho, the gateway to Inle Lake. The freshwater lake is set in the mountains of Myanmar’s Shan State and is the second largest lake in Myanmar. It is also one of the highest in altitude. On arrival, travel by boat to your hotel.

Day 5 Heho
Begin your day with a private cruise on Inle Lake and a visit to Phaung Dao U Pagoda. Next, admire the beautiful floating gardens that are typical of Heho. Afterwards, watch the skills of local silk weavers at the Mya Set Kyar Ikat silk weaving factory. End your day at Ngaphechaung Monastery.

Day 6 Heho/Mandalay
Fly to Mandalay, the country’s second city and a major commercial center. After a short tour of the city, arrive at the pier and board your elegant river cruiser.
Day 7 Mandalay/Bagan
After an early breakfast visit Sagaing, the living centre of the Buddhist faith in Burma and famous for its silversmiths who still work in much the same way as their ancestors did. The ship gets underway mid-morning, and begins its journey south. The rest of the day is spent relaxing on board observing the local river life from the top deck. An on-board guide lectures on local places and customs.
Day 8 Bagan
More than 2,000 temples and pagodas are scattered on an awe-inspiring plain beside the river. A guided orientation tour introduces you to the most important temples. After lunch you have the opportunity to rejoin the guide and visit the inside of some of the more significant pagodas. Alternatively, you can hire a bicycle or horse-drawn cart and explore this fascinating area on your own. Late afternoon your guide takes you to watch the breathtaking vista of the sun setting over the plain.
Day 9 Bagan/Mount Popa/Bagan
Disembark and drive to Mount Popa, a dormant volcano with a Buddhist monastery at its summit, making it a popular pilgrimage site. Local superstition holds that wearing red or black on Mount Popa angers the mountains nats, or spirits. Return to Bagan this evening.

Day 10 Bagan/Yangon
Start your day with an early morning balloon ride over Bagan, watching the sun illuminate the gold and sand colored stupas which stretch out as far as the eye can see. Then, fly to Yangon, a handsome city where contemporary and colonial Myanmar continues to co-exist decades after British departure. Visit the Shwedagon Pagoda, a fantasy of golden stupas, serene Buddhas and mythical beasts, as well as the third century BC Sule Pagoda.
Day 11 Yangon
This morning, visit Bago. In the afternoon, Stroll with a guide through Scott Market shopping for gems, jade or clothing or discover more of Myanmar’s Buddhist heritage at the Reclining Buddha, the National Museum and Botataung Pagoda. Tonight, join your fellow travelers for a farewell dinner.
Day 12 Yangon/Bangkok
An early afternoon flight takes you to Bangkok, where the remainder of the day is at leisure.
Day 13 Bangkok/Home City
