Your program begins in Beijing, capital and cultural heart of modern China, a city where past, present and future meet. In or just outside Beijing are four sights not to be missed by any traveller- the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, the Summer Placeand the monumental Great Wall- and you'll explore them all. Your next stop -Xian, the country's cradle of culture. Here you pay a fascinating archaeological visit to the First Emperor's terra-cotta bodyguard-estimated at 6,000 soldiers strong. Then its off to Guilin, where you cruise on the Li River. Your final stop is Shanghai, rich in a colonial history evident in the Bund's stately waterfront buildings and continues to lovely Zhujiajiao recalling China's classical splendors.
