The Roof of the World

Fifteen Days

Beijing • Tibet • Chengdu • Xian

China and Tibet are two equally exotic but notably dissimilar Asian neighbors, and The Roof of the World explores them both. This tour shows you the sights of Beijing and classic China, sandwiched between a tour of the mountain fastnesses of mysterious, medieval Tibet. Your visit begins in Beijing, a city that embodies the very essence of Imperial China in the palaces of the Ming and Qing courts, the magnificent Forbidden City and the awesome Great Wall. We fly to Lhasa for a first glimpse of Tibet with a memorable overland journey through scenic mountain passes bringing you deep into ”Shangri-La.” Two great cities-Gyantse, Xigaze- follow in succession, each with their temples and monasteries to explore. Visit the Giant Panda Reserve in Chengdu. Then, flying to Xian, you visit the First Qin Emperor’s amazing tomb complex at Xian with its army of
terra-cotta warriors…
